“As educators, we need to encourage students to develop their personalities, unleash their potential in the process of language learning, and become broad-minded global thinkers.”

Chenyi Zhou joined Poly in 2022 as a Middle School Mandarin teacher. After graduating from Beijing Normal University, she went to Armenia to teach Chinese for one year. She has passion for language learning and teaching, which she pursued at Teachers College, Columbia University where she earned her M.A in the field of applied linguistics. She believes that her native Chinese language can help students who want to learn Chinese and better understand Chinese cultures.

She believes that language learning should be fun, useful, and fulfilling. She strongly believes that language is not only a communication tool, but also the carrier of national culture and the embodiment of personal character and values. She hopes to help students develop their personalities including learning about being open to other cultures..

When not teaching, Chenyi enjoys sports, such as weight lifting, hiking, and bouldering, as well as visiting art museums, traveling, and attending live music performances.
